CONFESS and SURRENDER
Confessing means agreeing with God that we aren't perfect, and that we want Jesus Christ to forgive us as we turn away from our life of sin. It also means that we acknowledge that no amount of our personal effort can earn us the gift of eternal life.
Surrender means we allow Jesus Christ to be the final authority in our life. It means to live our life in a manner to please Him and not ourselves. It doesn't mean that we have to be perfect, but that we will try our best to live a life that expresses our gratitude for Jesus Christ paying the penalty for our sin by His death on the cross.
As we confess our sin and surrender control of our life to God, we turn from our life of sin and accept God's gift of eternal life!
Instead of getting what we deserve (death) we receive an incredible gift...the gift of eternal life! All this is made possible by Jesus Christ's death on the cross. It has been said that the gift of eternal life is God's riches (eternal life) at Christ's expense (His death on the cross).
